El Botijo Cuántico

"The Quantum Botijo"

"The Quantum Botijo" is a fusion of art and science conceived and created by ceramist Concha Cuadra, with photographic documentation by Santiago Martínez de Septién.

The project was inspired by Concha’s visit to CERN, where the universe's fundamental particles are studied. Drawing from that experience, she set out to explore the origin of the cosmos and the principles of physics through ceramic art.

The series consists of twelve unique pitchers, each representing contemporary physics concepts, such as the Big Bang, matter, black holes, and string theory.

Santiago Martínez de Septién accompanies the project through his photography, capturing the entire creative process in Concha’s studio—from the shaping of the pieces to their final form.

His images highlight the textures, details, and symbolism of each pitcher, offering a visual narrative that deepens the dialogue between art, science, and the mysteries of the universe.
